Control Serato without turntables: M-Audio X-Session

Here's a great little controller for Serato. It really comes in handy when there are turntable/vibration/needle problems (or no turntables at all!).

M-Audio X-Session

You can set up the MIDI in Serato to control:
  • Coarse pitch
  • Fine pitch
  • Start/stop
  • Cue points
  • Pitch bend up/down

iTunes: Multiple Libraries

I have one library for DJ tracks (Serato), and another library for listening music.

To create or use a different iTunes library:
  1. If iTunes is open, quit it.
  2. Hold down the Option key while you open iTunes.
  3. In the dialog that appears, do one of the following:
  4. To create a new library, click Create Library.
  5. To choose a different library, click Choose Library.

Emusic: Cheap, Legit, No DRM

eMusic is an MP3 music and audiobook subscription service. I currently pay $9.99/month for 25 downloads, and it gets cheaper the more you buy. They've got tons of good house and techno (old and new).

If you sign up, they give you 50 free tracks right off the bat. Go get some tunes!

Lavamus: House/Techno Classics

Looking for hard-to-find house/techno classics? Check out Lavamus. White labels, bootlegs, remixes ... they've got it. And best of of all, it's only $0.15/track.

Thanks to the one and only DJ Dion for the find.
